Rinku Singh’s Career in Domestic Cricket
Rinku Singh has had an impressive cricket journey, where he has represented Uttar Pradesh in multiple levels, ranging from Under-16, Under-19, and Under-23, and also played for Central Zone in the Under-19 level. Rinku Singh’s promising skills as an attacking batsman were recognized in 2013 when he was chosen for Uttar Pradesh’s under-16 cricket team, and subsequently in the under-19 team a few years later. Rinku made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh on November 5, 2016, during the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season. During the group stage of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, Rinku Singh was the top run-scorer for Uttar Pradesh, amassing 803 runs in nine matches. Rinku Singh IPL Career
In the 2017 Indian Premier League auction, Rinku Singh was bought by Kings XI Punjab. He was later purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders for 80 lakhs in the 2018 IPL auction. Rinku was unable to participate in the 2021 Indian Premier League due to a knee injury, and Gurkeerat Singh Mann took his place. However, he was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders again in the February 2022 auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament. During a match in the same year’s tournament, he was awarded the Man of the Match title and received a cash prize of one lakh for scoring 42 runs with a strike rate of 182.61, scoring in just 23 balls against Rajasthan Royals.
On April 9, 2023, Rinku Singh accomplished a remarkable feat during an IPL match against Gujarat Titans (KKR vs GT), hitting five sixes in the final over to successfully chase down 29 runs. This achievement set a new record for the highest-ever chase in the last over in the tournament’s history.
Suspension by BCCI
Singh received a three-month suspension from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 30, 2019, for playing in the Ramadan T20 Tournament in Abu Dhabi without seeking prior permission.
