Education and Training

Anna Hall attended Arapahoe High School and Valor Christian High School, where she honed her athletic skills and began to make a name for herself in the track and field world. She later went on to represent the University of Georgia and Florida in NCAA Division I competitions.

Introduction to the Athletic Career

Hall started high school at Arapahoe and then switched to Valor Christian for her sophomore year. She excelled in the New Balance Nationals pentathlon, winning the championship three times between 2017 and 2019. In 2018, she also became the high jump champion at the same event. That year, she set new pentathlon (junior class) and heptathlon national records in high school.

At just 17 years old, she made her international debut at the World Under-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. Despite facing athletes up to two years older, she finished ninth in the heptathlon. The following year, she continued to impress. She achieved scores of 4302 and 5847 points at the USATF Indoor Championships and Pan American U20 Championships, respectively, even securing third place in the senior division at the former while still 17. She also secured back-to-back victories as the heptathlon U20 national champion.

College Career

From 2019 to 2021, Hall competed for the Georgia Bulldogs. In 2021, she earned NCAA All-American status in the high jump after securing second place in the NCAA indoor pentathlon and third in the high jump. Her contributions aided the Bulldogs in securing third place in the NCAA Outdoor team rankings. She chose to skip the heptathlon at the time to focus on the delayed 2020 US Olympic trials.

However, misfortune struck during her 100 meters hurdles heat at the Olympic trials in June 2021. A collision with the eighth barrier resulted in a severe injury – a broken navicular bone in her left foot. Her Olympic aspirations for that year were dashed, and she underwent surgery, followed by a recovery period until October.

In 2022, Hall represented the Florida Gators, making an impressive comeback from her foot injury. She achieved a personal best of 4618 points in the pentathlon, winning the SEC indoor title. Her success continued as she secured both pentathlon and heptathlon titles at the NCAA Division I Championships, contributing to the Gators’ first women’s NCAA Indoor team title in three decades and their inaugural NCAA Outdoor team title. Notably, she shattered the collegiate heptathlon record with a score of 6412 points, also setting an American record in the heptathlon 800 meters.

Hall’s remarkable achievements led to her being named USTFCCCA Women’s Outdoor National Field Athlete of the Year. In July 2022, she further improved her heptathlon performance, claiming the bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships and establishing herself as one of the top female heptathletes in American history. Her achievements marked the best U.S. female heptathlon since 1993 and the country’s first world medal in the discipline in two decades.

On May 28, the 22-year-old further elevated her heptathlon performance, achieving a world-leading score of 6988 points at the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis, Austria. This marked her personal best by 233 points and placed her second/fifth on the NACAC area/world all-time list.
